Director, Communications - Retail Banking-731669

This Director will have responsibility for leadership and management of the Local Distribution Communications within our Retail Banking line of business. This includes leadership, culture and community messages to our branch and small business associates associates that support the branch from a sales and service perspective, and associate who support network management.

The role would manage a small team that partners with executive leaders across the organization to provide strategic communications leadership and insight that will enhance the messaging and delivery key imperatives and priorities. As a sales organization, events such as rallies, road shows and executive meetings are critical to drive business success. Our candidate will have the hands-on know-how to plan and execute on these sorts of events.

- Provide strategic communications counsel and implementation for internal communications support in Local Distribution
- Ensure long-range communications plans that support business imperatives are in place with the ability to flex those plans, as needed
- Consult with senior leaders on communications issues and influence business decisions as appropriate as an advocate for corporate reputation
- Effectively deliver on client needs while simultaneously ensuring needs of the larger organization are met
- Ensure executive leaders receive exceptional communications counsel
- Ensure regular delivery of key communications through existing and new channels
- Manage team of approximately four associates and contractors
- Partner with corporate communications and other peer organizations to deliver on Local Distribution objectives
- Develop and continually update best practices
- Work with communicators company-wide to develop and implement best practices

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or Military experience
- 5 years of experience in corporate communications

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, marketing/public relations or a related discipline
- 10+ years of experience in corporate communications
- Very strong writing skills and experience with communicating to a sales-based / consumer-based team
- Experience with driving cultural change across a business
- Must be able to prioritize requests and move quickly to meet the volume of demand and have the ability to flex and adjust real time as the business needs dictate
- Must be able to delivering on multiple priorities at once
- Strong leadership presence
- Outstanding interpersonal communication & influencing skills
- Proven ability to absorb large amounts of information and distill it into compelling and clear messaging
- Strong grounding in change management and ability to apply them and impart them to other team members
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Proven experience in building and leveraging relationships with senior management and executives
- Highly motivated, self-directed – able to work effectively and autonomously in an ambiguous environment
- Experience leading or working on matrixed communications projects
