Research Grant Coordinator
Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute (HBOI), located in Ft. Pierce, FL, is a research institute of Florida Atlantic University and conducts research in the areas of marine science and ocean engineering. A significant portion of research funding comes from competitively awarded grants. HBOI has a position open for Grant Coordinator, who will work closely with the researchers and with proposal administrators to develop, submit, and monitor grant proposals and awards with an emphasis on budget development and monitoring.
Responsible for coordinating sponsored research activities for HBOI by working directly with Principal Investigators (PIs), Project Managers (PMs), and their research staff to prepare and submit budgets for grant proposals and to monitor and track the budget of awards. Duties include budget analysis, budget preparation, budget maintenance, account reconciliation, determination and implementation of policies and procedures relating to sponsored programs, interpretation of grant documents to assure departmental compliance, and liaison with funding agencies and University offices.
Responsible for the preparation and timely submission of proposals, preparation of purchase requisitions, Purchasing Card orders, authorization of payment of invoices, submitting travel authorizations, preparing travel reimbursements, tracking and monitoring Time & Effort, processing close out of awards, and other related matters.
Responsible for assisting PIs/PMs in interfacing with granting agencies, developing appropriate and accurate budgets, ensuring that periodic reports and invoices are filed, and seeking follow-up funding and feedback. Monitor awards for end dates.
Master's degree in accounting or finance related and two years of budgeting or accounting experience; or Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance related and three years of the same experience required. Experience with grants or contracts required.
Experience with grants or contracts with federal agencies preferred. Experience in a college or university setting preferred. Experience providing administrative support to a research program or unit preferred.
