MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
v Ensures the development and implementation of H&S management systems, policies, procedures and training programs to assure compliance with local, state and federal regulations, Teva requirements, and “best practices” relevant to operations our TAPI Guayama and Humacao facilities.
v Responsible for ensuring the completion of periodic H&S program inspections including, but not limited to, laboratory safety, respiratory protection, fire prevention, housekeeping, hazardous waste, personal protective equipment usage and life critical procedures. Maintains MSDS system and uses other H&S relevant programs.
v Implementation of effective safety programs with metrics and viable systems to sustain and change the culture of the sites in TAPI Puerto Rico. Take preliminary actions/steps to identify, evaluate and recommend control measures for a variety of environmetal, health and safety concerns, such as chemical, physical or biological workplace hazards.
v Work with manager and more senior staff to provide direct site support to include policy/procedure review and implementation, workplace surveys, safety and industrial hygiene training and investigation of accidents and/or incidents.
v Assist the site on regulatory compliance and industrial processes.
v Assist in advising facility management on appropriate methods for minimizing or eliminating health and safety concerns.
v Help assure that all records are prepared, maintained and submitted in a timely manner.
v Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets for raw materials and products
v Follows all appropriate TAPI safety policies and procedures as well.
v Responsible for maintaining the communication channels between the manufacturing plants and all other departments.
v Regularly communicates with peers, subordinates, and internal and external customers concerning safety and health issues... Actively supports and participates in the implementation of team-based operations at the TAPI PR facility.
v May serve as Emergency Action Coordinator and/or Incident Commander and participates or leads various EH&S Committees/Teams. Acts as deputy to site Leader.
v Manage the Security operations of the facilities; including security guards. and control access.
Education: Bachelors of Science Degree in Occupational/Environmental Health Sciences, Safety, or other major science (Chemistry, Biology);
Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certifications are highly desirable.
Experience: 5+ years experience in Health & Safety functions and/or performing technical tasks
Company-Related, Specialized Knowledge: Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state and local regulations and their applicability to site operations. Familiar with NIOSH/EPA sampling protocols, various personal protective equipment (PPE) devices, audit protocols,
