Cargill Energy, Transportation and Metals ( ETM) Analytics acts as the focus for fundamental analysis for Cargill Thermal Energy Supply Chain, Ocean Transportation (OT), Transport Fuels (TF), Petrochemicals (PC) and Metals businesses. Cargill Transport Fuels has determined the need for an analyst you will be responsible for building and maintaining economic models to support trading and investments decisions in the crude oil upstream and midstream sectors of North America. IThis position will be based in Houston and you will report functionally to the US Transporation Fuels Analytics Lead while priorities will be determined jointly with the various business leads in the US. In addition, you will have to work in close coordination with the other energy analysts in both the US and Geneva.
40 % - Lead the work around the short/medium/long term micro NAM crude oil analysis including:
Supply and demand modeling for the major production streams in NAM (US and Canada)
Grade/Quality analysis (i.e. Sweet/sour)
Work with the refinery analyst to model run projections and sweet/sour slates changes
This includes communicating opinions on S&D modeling and analysis based on objective data, challenging trading positions, identifying dislocations in the market and communicating these to traders and ensuring that the trading team is able to make effective and informed decisions
20 % - Develop and maintain short/medium/long term models around key NAM transportation developments for crude oil, primarily focusing on rail and pipelines.
30 % - Lead the analytics effort to support the Transport Fuel strategic business opportunities / investments in the crude oil upstream/midstream
10 % - Coordinate with the rest of the North America Analytics team on projects going across segments/sectors (i.e. midstream/downstream oil, NGL’s, Petrochemicals, Natgas) Develop strong industry contacts
Bachelor's Degree required in a quantitative subject (e.g., finance / economics / mathematics, engineering or physical sciences)
Minimum of 2 years of experience in US energy analysis
A thorough understanding/knowledge of the North America crude oil industry
Good understanding of North America crude oil transportation
General knowledge of the Energy Market in the US and Globaly
Degree in a quantitative subject (e.g., finance / economics / mathematics, engineering or physical sciences)
IT skills: Advanced Excel skills. SQL/database query skills. VBA a plus. Ability to communicate and collaborate with IT personnel to enable the transformation of prototype supply and demand tools into fully deployable tools for the trading desk
Highly numerate skill set: understands the relationships between various data sets and is able to bring them together in models
Ability to quickly grasp concepts around the factors driving the market coversed and improve analysis
Curious and open to discuss and try out new ideas
Strong communication and presentation skills
Strong business acumen in order to support traders in making risk decisions.
Must have good interpersonal skills, ability to work in teams, communicate with senior management traders and other analysts.
