Proactively perform "top-down" analyses of system-level trends that could be being impacted by or may be improved with Pricing actions; select topics will involve partnership with Business Decision Support Team

Generate and analyze impact of pricing initiatives; generate revenue estimates, create plan, run test, and monitor results

Serve as custodians of Southwest automated action "playbook"

Set system-level guidelines for Pricing Team to determine market price points and OA matching actions

Own all inputs to playbook for lowest revenue markets (i.e., those not owned by Market Strategy)

Provide recommendations for co-terminal/catchment area pricing strategies

Serve as analytical Leadership for entire Pricing Team; provide mentoring and decision-support as-needed

Develop and distribute Pricing Analysis reports (Fare Compare, pricing support, Revenue Management support, product support)

Perform ad-hoc pricing strategy analysis (LCC competition, city performance, marketing sale mechanisms)

Represents Pricing and Revenue Management in cross-Team discussions; is qualified to speak on behalf of Pricing Team in external setting

Own Southwest carrier-specific intelligence gathering and strategy development; ensure that this is in accordance with overall Company regional strategies

Collaborate with Marketing on pricing strategy at system/regional level

Own execution of Sale Planning process (e.g., weekly Sale Planning meeting, price point/T and C selection, route selection)

Manage Group product from Pricing perspective

Manage Southwest Airlines Vacations product from Pricing perspective (policies, discount grids, analysis and sale planning)

Manage Government product from Pricing perspective (annual bid, revenue estimates, post-analysis, policies)

Manage Business Select product from Pricing perspective (fare levels, sell-up from YL, experiments)

Build effective relationships within Revenue Management and other departments

Calculate anticipated fare levels and revenue models for new markets/cities

Leads or initiates analytical projects outside of scope of responsibilities

Minimum Requirements BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

EDUCATION (Level, and degree if applicable)

College degree required (preferably in Finance, Economics, Math, Business or Engineering)


2+ years in Pricing/Revenue Management or equivalent work experience required

Previous airline experience required (experience in Revenue Management or other commercial group preferred).


Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.

Analytical background required

Ability to make decision in an ambiguous environment

Demonstrates ability to interpret data, draw implications and modify approach

Strong skills in data analysis tools (Excel) required

Fair Powerpoint, SQL and Access skills preferred

Uses data to synthesize action plan and can clearly communicate interpretation of data to others

Handles complex analyses well with little supervision

Routinely goes beyond simple numerical checks in quality control

Maintains high quality even in complex situations with tight deadlines
