The Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis (DSAGSL) is a nonprofit organization supporting a vibrant community of individuals with Down syndrome, their families and friends. Our mission is to benefit that community through individual and family support, education, public awareness and advocacy. Join us in creating a future where all people with Down syndrome achieve their full potential.
The Executive Director supports and leads the association’s key stakeholders – our membership. The director oversees staff, development, programs, and budget to effectively implement the organization's mission.
The essential duties of the Director are:
- Effectively manages advocacy, educational, and family support programs
- Leads and motivates a paid staff of 6 and a volunteer corps of 200+
- Efficiently and transparently manages the organization’s $500k+ budget
- Aggressively and successfully overseas fundraising activities
- Markets and grows a vibrant, inspirational public image of the association
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A passion for the organization's mission
- Excellent track record of superior customer service
- Ability to inspire and lead a diverse group of stakeholders
- Significant managerial experience of both people and programs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; significant experience in public speaking
and media interaction
- Fiscal discipline and familiarity with common financial reporting
- Schedule flexibility to allow for occasional weekend or evening commitments
- A bachelor’s degree and 5 to 7 years relevant experience
