We're currently seeking

an SEO Developer to assist in configuring and developing an enterprise level search utility for our global multi-site Internet channel. This individual will work across several internal teams to build and improve the online search experience. The candidate must have experience understanding SEO concepts and developing technical solutions to improve online search capabilities.

The SEO Developer will:
·

Develop best-of-breed search by allowing users to dynamically improve the relevance of their search results by leveraging modern search capabilities such as dynamic search suggestions (Search-As-You-Type), results filtering (faceted search), and content authentication for targeted searches.

·

Develop and maintain a technical roadmap for Garmin’s internet search utility; including feature improvements and software patches.

·

Be familiar with developing applications in a multi-tiered environment with Java as well as other web application technologies (HTTP, HTML, CSS, AJAX, JavaScript, Spring).

·

Familiarity to XSLT

·

Have an understanding of technical architectures, networking technologies, and protocols.

·

Accept and elicit requirements from end users and deliver robust search solutions in a fast paced environment.

·

Have advanced knowledge of SQL queries on MySQL and Oracle Database.

·

Have working knowledge of analytics software (Google Analytics, OBIEE).

·

Work with Internet Application Analysts to develop and implement unit and system testing processes.

·

Provide solutions for complex software problems for existing applications.

·

Maintain, improve, and extend existing software with limited assistance from other associates.

·

Review complex tasks for soundness of technical judgment and overall adequacy and accuracy.

·

Demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization.

·

Be responsible for planning small/medium sized projects or tasks.

·

Make substantial contributions to determining feasibility of goals/objectives.

·

Provide reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques.

·

Perform technical root cause analysis and outlines corrective action for given problems.

·

Serve as a mentor to less experienced IT Developers (Developer 1).

·

Demonstrate proficient use and knowledge of established standards and procedures.

·

Learn how to use and apply engineering tools as needed for this role.

·

Thoroughly document work in an organized manner.

·

Work collaboratively and professionally in a team environment

with other Garmin associates to achieve goals.

·

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:
·

Candidates should possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or another relevant field

AND

2 years relevant experience

OR

an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience

Outstanding academics

·

Demonstrated experience in successful implementation of technology solutions

·

Must demonstrate

proficiency and possess experience necessary

to designs, enhances and develops single and multi-system applications

·

Must demonstrate ability to learn and understand secure coding practices

·

Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a large team or departmental setting

Preferred Qualifications include:
·

Possess demonstrated programming experience using HTML, Java, Java Server Pages (JSP), Java Servlets, JDBC, Java Enterprise Edition technologies, Spring, O/R mapping (Hibernate, Toplink), Java Web Frameworks (Struts, JSF), Microsoft ASP

·

Demonstrate an understanding of web standards (XHTML, CSS) relevant to Garmin’s business needs

·

Specific experience with search engine technologies (Google, FAST, Verity, Autonomy)

·

Experience supporting a multi-tier web application environment; one with load-balancing and high-availability requirements

·

Knowledge of regular expressions

·

Experience with log analysis tools (ie., Splunk)

·

Superior academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5 as a general rule)

·

Previous experience working in a team environment
