The Oak Ridge Office, located near Knoxville, Tennessee, is a component of the Office of Science Integrated Support Center. Our mission is to provide administrative and technical services and expertise to DOE Science, Environmental Management, and Nuclear Energy Site Offices across the United States. We also manage nearly 34,000 acres of Federally-owned land known as the Oak Ridge Reservation which is home to several major industrial complexes including the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the East Tennessee Technology Park, and the Y-12 National Security Complex.
A successful candidate in this position will serve as either a General Engineer or Physical Scientist in the Environmental and Quality Services Division, working to ensure environmental compliance with nuclear and non-nuclear facilities.
**Applicants who qualify for the 0801 series will receive a salary between $44,176 -$54,373 per year. Applicants who qualify for the 1301 series will receive a salary between $38,790 - $50,431 per year.**

In this position, you will perform developmental assignments in the performance of entry level engineering or physical science duties. Your duties will include:
-Assisting in the implementation of Integrated Safety Management Systems for nuclear and non-nuclear activities;
-Providing environmental and safety program support to customer organizations;
-Supporting the safe conduct of work through identification and analysis of potential hazards; and
-Providing Federal oversight of contractor systems, programs, and facilities.
You may qualify based on education alone or based on a combination of education and experience. If you are applying based on experience, you must demonstrate in your resume at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to a GS-05 in the Federal service. This experience may have been obtained in either the private or public sector. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized experience is defined as:
-Implementing at least one of the following functional programs: safety management, environmental compliance, public health, or worker protection.
