Works with other Accountants in preparing income and balance sheet statements, consolidated statements, and various other accounting statements and reports. Creates and analyzes financial reports and records for management review. Verifies the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records. If responsible for a portfolio of properties, may ensure cash receipts and payables are entered and processed; verify accuracy of rent role information and ensure tenant billings and lease changes are recorded in a timely manner; may assist Accountant position in preparation of management fee calculations. Makes sure that all invoices, debt collections, tax, and owner distribution payments are made in a timely manner. Assists in special studies and development of improved methods and procedures. Prepares recurring journal entries, including accruals.
Audits and reconciles various liability accounts and/or reports such as commission pools, monthly revenue reports, and sales voucher reports.
Posts accounts payable and receivables.
Updates and maintains chart of accounts.
Creates and runs various types of queries such as invalid general ledger postings. Forwards to the appropriate person for resolution.
Creates and print accounts payable checks.
Handles simple telephone inquiries from internal employees.
Processes sales vouchers and enter them into the accounting databases. May apply cash to the vouchers and distribute commissions to sales professionals.
Other duties may be assigned.
Provides informal assistance such as technical guidance and/or training to co-workers.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of one to two years of related experience and/or training.
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor. Ability to effectively present information to an internal group.
Requires general knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages.
Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations. Ability to solve problems in standard situations. Requires basic analytical skills.
OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES
Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
