The Respiratory Therapist will administer all aspects of Respiratory Care Services in accordance with current policies and procedures to patients and groups.
- Education and formal training : A graduate of an AMA (American Medical Association), accredited school for Respiratory Care. Must have minimum of either an Associate of Applied Science degree, specialized training equivalent to the Associate Degree. Must be registered by the NBRC (National Board for Respiratory Care).
- Work experience : Have a minimum of one year hospital experience as a respiratory care practitioner. This may include clinical experience.
- Knowledge, skills and abilities required : Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing. Has knowledge and skills necessary to modify care according to patient(s)’ age. Has the ability to interpret information to identify each patient(s)' requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs. Considerable verbal ability to effectively communicate observations and Input to nursing staff, physicians and other department staff.
