SUMMARY
Under general supervision, administers database, web, application and batch process servers, with a primary focus on setup, configuration monitoring and management of PeopleSoft Systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Maintains several database and PeopleSoft environments: applies updates, maintenance packs, patches and fixes for all environments.

*
Performs application upgrades.

*
Maintains and manages database reporting infrastructure. Participates in design.

*
Monitors server performance and recommends changes as needed.

*
Mentors new DBA staff and provides training.

*
Works closely with developers, support and QA teams to maintain all DB and PeopleSoft environments.

*
Refreshes databases as needed by developers or functional teams.

*
Performs database administration activities including; installation, configuration, monitoring, space management, security, database backup and recovery and disaster recovery.

*
May perform installation, configurations and maintenance for clustered database servers.

*
Plans and performs database server and PeopleSoft upgrades.

*
Performs database reviews and provides input to database design.

*
Writes and reviews stored procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

*
Bachelor’s degree required, higher level education a plus.

*
Minimum of four years of experience as a DBA and two years of PeopleSoft system administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Candidates with 5+ years of professional DBA experience that are willing to learn Peoplesoft will also be considered.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

A seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization. Works on moderately complex and diverse projects. Exercises good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

*
Able to design databases according to industry standards and make tuning recommendations.

*
Provide technical support for PeopleSoft and SQL Server issues.

*
Able to write and optimize complex queries.

*
Advanced knowledge of database administration, PeopleSoft system administration, Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and systems analysis procedures.

*
Strong working knowledge of database software and operating systems.

*
Strong communication, writing and editing skills needed to transfer information to individuals involved in development process. Strong presentation skills.

*
Strong organizational and time management skills.

*
Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Generally, typical office setting with environmentally controlled conditions.

*
Able to work extended hours as business needs dictate.

*
May require participation in afterhours support rotation.
