Background: Global Network Products (GNP) contributes approximately $326 million per year to MasterCard’s revenue from value added network services such as stand-in, MasterCom, EMS and legacy products. GNP’s strategic objectives are to develop and deliver new products that help retain current processing and switching business and grow MasterCard’s revenue from processing and switching by increasing the number of customers and expanding the range of network services. Within GNP, the Global ATM Network (GAN) team is focused on growing MasterCard’s revenue and market share of ATM transactions. ATM transactions contribute approximately $500 million per year to MasterCard’s revenue. GAN’s objectives are to sustain MasterCard’s global leadership in ATM acceptance, to grow switching and processing of ATM transactions initiated with MasterCard, Maestro and Cirrus branded cards, and to grow the use of Cirrus as the primary or exclusive ATM access brand on non-MasterCard cards. MasterCard intends to leverage its global network, its highly developed platforms, and its leadership in global ATM acceptance to gain share and increase its revenues from both domestic and cross border ATM volume. Major Accountabilities: This product development position will support both the representation of GNP in the US Region and the delivery of GAN objectives worldwide. The position will be accountable for leadership, facilitation or support, as appropriate, in the following areas -- · Development and delivery of GNP strategic plans for the US Region. · Alignment of GNP strategies, tactics and programs with other GP&S units in a manner that optimizes support for business growth and integrated customer delivery. · Internal communication/education to other GP&S units and to the company generally regarding GNP strategy for the US Region. · In close partnership with region and country sales teams and customer account teams, secure ATM switching and processing commitments, by providing to customer-facing staff subject matter expertise and product development leadership, and by working directly with customers as agreed with customer-facing staff. · Development of ATM business case model(s) and agreement template(s) that can be tailored to specific markets. · Develop and deliver competitive ATM pricing analyses on the national and regional levels, as well as customer impact analyses of current and alternate pricing approaches. · Design and deliver market analyses that illuminate opportunities for ATM business growth in markets worldwide, based on thorough understanding of market structure, competitive factors and value propositions, economics, branding, functionality, regulation and business practices. · Deliver MasterCard and customer impact analyses to support development of new approaches to ATM licensing, functionality, and other product enhancements. · Benchmark MasterCard’s ATM offering in each relevant market against the competition to support resource allocation recommendations. · Manage implementation and fulfillment of ATM business arrangements, primarily by acting as liaison with internal stakeholders (e.g. franchise management, law, security, etc.). · Track and report the performance of MasterCard’s ATM business, with focus on identifying incremental revenues. Success will be measured primarily by incremental revenue generated from more ATM transactions on the MasterCard network. The position will directly support the work of local debit staff and local member relations staff with customer financial institutions to support sales, product development , product and program implementation, and customer satisfaction. The position will also work wi th ATM platform development staff to support ongoing execution of strategies and tactics to deliver robust ATM programs and functions. The position will be primarily responsible for ensuring that proper planning and operating information is available to manage the channel. A major responsibility of the role will be leadership (on the acceptance side) and support (on the issuing side) in making deals that support brand exclusivity or priority routing to MasterCard. Specific accountabilities include support for: · Active participation and thought leadership in the business planning process with senior management. · Product and service descriptions and offerings. · Product pricing, budgeting, and articulation of the value proposition. · Market analysis. · Coordination with global network management. · Identification and definition of technical and systems requirements . · Development and implementation of revised rules and standards. · Deliver external communications support tools, including but not limited to product marketing materials and FAQs for use with customers. · Sales force education and support. Requirements: The position requires direct leadersh ip experience in debit product management, specifically with respect to the ATM channel. A track record of business growth, successful cross-functional project management, and outstanding management communication is required. · 8 – 10 years of relevant industry experience, focusing on ATM. · Proven ability to work productively on cross-functional teams. · Understanding of business (not accounting) financial statements. · Product management / product development experience. · Outstanding communication, presentation and sales skills. · Excellent project management skills. · A record of thought leadership, innovative/creative thinking and action, and strong self-management. · Ability to quickly grasp and apply new concepts to grow business. · Desire and ability to drive key projects rapidly to successful implementation and to rigorously measure returns. · Bachelor’s degree in related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
