ENERCON Services is seeking a Senior Substation Engineer for a contract opportunity in NE United States. This person will maintain a range of responsibilities including prosecution of electric substation projects, including protection and control as well as physical design. This individual would oversee other design consultants and manage the projects for a period of approximately 6 -12 months.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Developing or reviewing electric substation drawings, including single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams and physical drawings (such as plan views, elevation views, control panel layouts, control building layouts)
Performing or reviewing substation design calculations and analysis such as short circuit withstand, ground grid analysis and design, lightning protection, voltage drop and AC and DC station service sizing
Working closely with Civil Engineering personnel to develop or review substation foundation and structure drawings
Developing or reviewing technical equipment specifications and work scopes
Developing substation project design criteria including conceptual substation layouts and protection and control one-line diagrams
Developing engineering bid packages for substation projects and then evaluating bids received and making recommendation on award
Developing technical equipment and construction specifications and evaluating bid for materials and services and making recommendations on award
BS in Electrical Engineering
10+ years of experience in substation design and engineering, including managing medium to large capital projects
Ability and willingness to travel to substation project sites as needed; travel of this nature will be within driving distance of the office
Ability and willingness to enter energized substations wearing proper PPE with appropriate safety training for purposes of providing support as needed during project construction.
Ability and willingness to work occasional overtime to support client or meet deadlines (including weekends if necessary)
Must be proficient with use of typical computer applications such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook (or other email / calendar programs)
