The Administrative Supervisor in the managed care practices provides leadership and guidance to the Medical Assistant or Medical Office Assistant Staff, allowing for the smooth flow of patients through the practice. The Administrative Supervisor will have demonstrated proficiency in the skills required to perform the duties of all levels of Medical Assistant or Medical Office Assistant.
Education: Completion of High School or GED equivalent. Knowledge: Experience using a standard personal computer including word processing, spreadsheet software, EMR and a computer based patient information system. Working knowledge of medical terminology and insurance required. Skills: Demonstrated interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Effective organizational and time management skills necessary to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
Required Licensure, Certification, Etc: Successful Medical Office Assistant III or Medical Assistant III certification is preferred. Position requires re-certification as an Administrative Supervisor via the Competency Assessment Tool. Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant Training Program and/or successful completion of the Medical Assistant Certification Exam. Certified Medical Assistant required successful completion of the AAMA, RMA or AMT Medical Assistant Certification, exam within one year of hire. Five or more years of specific applicable MA experience in primary medical care may be substituted for formal training program provided eligibility for RMA or AMT exam. Work Experience: Three to five years of work experience in a similar service-oriented industry required. Some lead or supervisory experience preferred.
