This position is responsible for managing patients’ accounts until they are resolved and counsels and directs patients with help in paying their accounts. Collects and/or updates patient demographic and insurance information. Accurately processes refunds and adjustments, which may include write-offs, late charge adjustments, discounts, etc. within PMC policies and guidelines. Contacts insurance companies and/or patients at appropriate intervals for timely resolution of accounts. Within policy guidelines, uses available tools such as phone, letters, and computer processes to work with insurance companies and patients to reduce accounts receivable to a zero balance.
To perform this job satisfactorily, the incumbent must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Prefer at least two years insurance background, medical terminology and a working knowledge of accounting including debit/credit adjustments, etc. Requires the ability to use a keyboard 10-key calculator and previous PC experience
