Manage the operations and fiscal activities of the department. Plan and develop systems and procedures to improve the operation quality and efficiency of the department. Supervise staff in accordance with company policies and DOT regulations.
Manage the distribution operational and fiscal activities for multiple locations. Reviews and assesses the P & L on a period basis. Assigns routes and contract haulers.
Plan and develop systems and procedures to improve the operating quality and efficiency with the department and with other operating facilities.
Analyze and document business processes and problems. Develop solutions to enhance efficiencies.
Approve expense reports and policy department expenditures.
Direct staff in development, analysis, and preparation of reports.
Handle escalated customer inquiries/concerns regarding route deliveries.
Communicate with Supervisors, Mangers, and Vice Presidents on Department operations.
In charge of Fleet Maintenance to ensure DOT regulations are met. Inspect and schedule fleet maintenance to ensure preventative maintenance/repairs are done in a timely and efficient manner.
Works alongside direct reports as a coach and partner to effectively manage their performance. Communicates company and cascading goals and assists direct reports in establishing goals that align with department and company goals. Provides on-going performance feedback and holds self-accountable for conducting at least three formal performance conversations with direct reports each year. Holds direct reports accountable for results and works with them to cultivate their capabilities and utilize their strengths.

Education and Experience
Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Logistics/Distribution or similar concentration, plus 5-7 years of experience in the Transportation/Distribution field with at least 3-5 years of supervisory experience
Or 9-11 years of experience in the Transportation/Distribution field with at least 3-5 years of supervisory experience
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong knowledge of contemporary distribution concepts and practices, including marketing and distribution
Ability to demonstrate professional oral and written communications skills
Ability to read, interpret, and analyze P & L statements.
Ability to supervise staff efficiently and effectively
Knowledge of diesel mechanics, drive-trains, lubricants, Thermo-kings and service requirements
