The Senior Director, GTECH Global Tax will report directly to the Lottomatica Group Corporate Controller, managing a staff of ten professionals.

This position is responsible for the leadership of GTECH’s Tax organization including tax planning, accounting for income taxes and tax compliance. The Senior Director of Global Tax must also maintain a strong alliance with tax management of Lottomatica Group’s Italian Operations segment. The successful candidate will have a record demonstrating work within multi-national businesses of comparable size and complexity, dealing with and managing service providers, and other tax professionals in carrying out his or her progressively increasing responsibilities. This position will also partner with business leaders and consult on tax matters with senior management to facilitate decision making. He or she will work with senior financial management within the Company and develop and implement tax strategy based on guidance from the Lottomatica Group Chief Financial Officer. The Senior Director of Global Tax will represent the Company to third party service providers and public, state/municipal auditors and IRS agents.

Essential Job Duties

Responsible for tax strategy and planning to ensure effective and efficient cross-border policies for both US and overseas investments managing the global tax rate to:

Minimize cash taxes and

Optimize book tax rate

Lead professional and paraprofessional staff of ten

Work with operations management to ensure optimum tax structure of key contracts and/or business partnerships

Comply with all federal, state, and local requirements having a strong working knowledge of all applicable regulations; enforcing adherence; advising management of needed actions; and communicating with tax specialists when appropriate

Responsible for completion of federal and state income tax returns including all related analysis and support

Responsible for audits of federal and state income tax and state and local filings

Responsible for use and property tax functions

Assist the VP and Group Treasurer in estimating and monitoring annual cash taxes and optimizing tax impacts of corporate cash management in accordance with code 956 of Internal Revenue Code

Responsible for accounting for income taxes (IAS 12) for US and International subsidiaries

Oversight of the tax reporting packages for the Company’s international subsidiaries

Point of contact to external auditors on all tax related matters

Coordination of accounting for income taxes for international subsidiaries with third party vendors

Responsible for “arms-length” intercompany transfer pricing policies, procedures and supporting documentation

Liaison with operating management on tax issues and accounting staff on tax accounting issues

Ensure appropriate internal controls are in place, documented and updated regularly for all significant tax reporting and tax accounting cycles

Responsible for continuing tax process improvement and automation

Monitor and evaluate applicability of emerging tax trends and regulatory guidance



Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Accounting. Master’s Degree in Business Taxation preferred

JD and/or CPA preferred

Professional Qualifications

20+ years of total tax experience with at least 5 years in a public accounting firm and at least 5 years managing, leading and developing a team of tax professionals

Must have a demonstrated hands-on approach and success in working in and developing a team-based environment

Advanced knowledge of U.S. and international tax planning and compliance

Ability to incorporate knowledge with business objectives to develop effective global tax strategies

Extensive experience in international tax required
