We are seeking a leader to establish and lead an analytics team focused on agency, distribution, marketing and sales effectiveness across Business Insurance. The ideal candidate is a proven leader in applying analytics to business problems and getting results. This is a unique opportunity to join an established business intelligence organization yet build a start-up analytics group focused on areas of significant opportunity in Travelers Business Insurance. This lead will interface heavily with senior management in Travelers Business Insurance.
¿Lead a team of analysts in data exploration and analytics in support of Travelers¿ strategies in sales, marketing and agency/distribution management
¿Establish and lead business stakeholder teams to drive strategies and govern progress and outcomes of the analytics work
¿Use understanding of Travelers¿ marketing, sales and agency/distribution strategies to develop analytic strategies and project proposals and then execute on those projects
¿Collaborate seamlessly with Business Intelligence/Data teams and research teams on projects and programs
¿Champion a data-driven, fact-based approach to management
¿Partner with other key leaders to build and evolve a test and learn capability for rapid prototyping and development of analytics
¿Direct the construction of a variety of analyses including data mining, descriptive statistics and/or report development
¿Review analyses and provide direction and insight.
¿Directly manage staff for large complex projects
¿Identify & creatively use conventional and non-conventional data sources independently.
¿Direct multiple complex projects simultaneously as well as large and complex initiatives.
¿Analyze/interpret data, draw business inferences and clearly articulate findings for target audience.
¿Direct the construction and present analyses and recommendations to target audience.
¿Proactively stay abreast of industry trends and best practices
¿Develop and maintain effective relationships with business partners.
¿Direct the development of new approaches to business problems.
¿Partner with peers across the company to ensure consistency and alignment where appropriate.
¿Identify, recommend and implement analytic software/tool(s) for core team and lead training, utilization and optimization efforts
The candidate will have a strong business and analytics background, with a minimum of 8 years of experience in applying analytics in dynamic businesses.
Ability to formulate strategies, socialize to gain alignment, create initiatives portfolios and then drive execution and measure results
¿8+ years experience in analytics or quantitative management positions
¿5+ years of experience working with data analysis systems and tools such as SAS, SPSS, Cognos, Qlikview or similar tools in a large, heterogeneous data environment
¿5+ years experience managing people
¿Proven record of accomplishments on broad range or business-wide projects and/or initiatives working directly with senior management
¿Expertise and experience in the fields of agency management, marketing and sales would be very beneficial
¿Experience building and growing teams and success in advancing new concepts into large matrix organizations
BS and/or advanced degree in a quantitative field such as Finance, Economics, Mathematics or Statistics, or equivalent experience. An MBA would also be considered for advanced degree.
