The EFAST2 Systems engineer will be responsible for:
Support of the EFAST2 technical environments (production, DR, Dev, Test, etc.)
Conduct analysis and feasibility research of new technologies and products
Design and integration of new technologies and products into the existing infrastructure
Performing technical analysis and operational support of all EFAST2 environments
Operation and maintenance of platform, OS, and network infrastructure
Solution performance analysis, tuning and enhancement
All phases of environment life cycle to include hardware setup and refresh, infrastructure planning and design, configuration, and capacity planning.
Interface with the customer at meetings to gather project requirements
Occasional on-call and after hours maintenance support required
Support of security compliance design, remediation, and enhancement
Support of program deliverables
Support of customer requests for Engineering Change Proposals
Support VMware Virtualization Platform
Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent professional experience.
2-5 years of related systems engineering experience.
2 years of experience of systems engineering with federal government computing platforms leveraging Linux, MS Windows Server, Oracle, Cisco, VMware and similar technologies
Extensive knowledge of server, storage and network technologies
Ability to write shell scripts to automate tasks
Understanding of TCP/IP Networking and troubleshooting
Experience supporting standard Linux and Windows services
Knowledge of SAN best practices and storage administration
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with FISMA and server hardening procedures
Microsoft and/or Linux Certification is a plus
VMware Certification is a plus
CISSP is a plus
Self-motivated and with the ability to work with little to no supervision. Must have good team, organizational and planning skills and stringent time management skills to balance dynamic workloads in a complex environment.
