Key Responsibilities

The Tax Department is looking for a Tax Accounting Clerk to work in our New York office.

File transaction tax returns, property tax renditions, commercial rent tax ad business license tax filings for the US CS affiliated group of companies in the various state and local taxing jurisdictions.

File tax clearance and dissolution applications with the appropriate federal and state and local taxing jurisdictions.

This position will have exposure to various areas of CS including front office, corporate secretary, accounts payable and financial accounting. The role is an integral part of the operations of the firm.

Job Description

Timely and accurately file sales and use tax returns in approximately 15 jurisdictions on a monthly basis.

Update accounts payable with the sales and use tax rates for 15 taxing jurisdictions on a monthly basis

Timely and accurately file property tax renditions in approximately 20 jurisdictions, review property tax bills and make property tax payments when amounts are due.

Liaise with corporate secretary and track creation and dissolution of legal entities across the US, file appropriate creation documents and dissolution documents, including IRS forms SS-4, 8832, 966 and state registration and dissolution forms.

Support US head of tax with reporting and other administrative tasks in a chief of staff role, KRI material tax filing reporting.

7-10 years experience in a corporate tax department, public accounting firm or law firm where the candidate was primarily responsible for the preparation and filing of the qualification and dissolution documents for setting up / dissolving various forms of legal entities.

This role supports the front office in creation of operating companies to further proprietary investments, client structures and tax motivated transaction benefiting the firm. This position is also responsible for supporting the ERP efforts by formally dissolving legal entities once their stated objective has been accomplished.
