**This position is located in Greensboro, Alabama. This is a two-year limited term position. Continuation of employment is contingent upon availability of funds.** The individual in this position serves as the primary assistant to the Senior Fish Health Specialist and other professional staff as well as office manager for all departments or staff housed at the Alabama Fish Farming Center in Greensboro, AL. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Perform general office clerical and administrative duties such as, answer phone, fax, type correspondence, copy and maintain schedules, and act as a receptionist for callers and visitors; processes standard AU documents and forms to provide payments to vendors and reimbursements for travel; maintain lab supplies and equipment; record and deliver shipments to appropriate labs; manage Microbiological Testing Services process; collect lab specimens and information from producers for analysis; compile lab results in binders, assist in communicating results to producers, and perform other lab duties as assigned; oversee auditorium scheduling, set-up, cleaning, and maintain accurate records of usage; manage facility maintenance and repairs; prepare a variety of reports, documents, and spreadsheets as requested and required; and perform other duties as assigned. Must frequently interpret written policies and procedures and follow generally known precedents for complex cases. In addition, maintains a close relationship with central university offices to resolve complex issues and discrepancies.
Minimum Qualifications
Entry into the applicant pool requires a high school diploma or equivalent plus two years experience in clerical and administrative support services. Knowledge of office rules and procedures, proficiency in computer keyboard and software skills (WordPerfect, Word, Excel), and skills in design and management of database files are required. Employer will consider advance degrees in lieu of experience.
