The Supervisor for Life Support and Trauma is responsible for the overall coordination of Life Supportclasses (CPR/BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP), Trauma classes (ENPC, TNCC, ATCN, PHTLS, CATN), and
Aggressive Behavior Management classes for employees. This coordination includes scheduling andcommunicating classes along with the teaching and evaluation of students according to the American Heart Association (AHA), and Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) and American College of Surgeonsguidelines/protocols respectively. The Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the Life Support,
Trauma, and Aggressive Behavior Management instructors, including recruiting, hiring and performanceevaluations. Manages the budget for the Life Support, Trauma, and Aggressive Behavior Management
classes. The Supervisor participates as an integral member of the Education team by promoting positiveteam relationships in regard to workload and goals. Works with system teams to develop processes and
standards which will provide employees with the knowledge and resources to improve patient care andsafety throughout the system. The Supervisor is a role model of professional behavior and is instrumental in
creating a professional climate within the organization.
Develops ,conducts, and oversees Life Support, Trauma, and Aggressive Behavior Management training classes according to the certifying agency standards
Coordinates the training logistics for the Life Support, Trauma, and Aggressive Behavior Management classes including: Scheduling and communicating Life Support, Trauma, and Aggressive Behavior Management certification and recertification classes.
Arranging for instructors to assist in providing the classes
Issuing Life Support certification cards according to AHA protocol
Issuing Trauma certification cards according to ENA, ACS, and/or TNS protocols
Issuing Aggressive Behavior Management certification/verification cards according to protocols
Developing processes for maintaining computerized records for tracking completion of Life Support,Trauma, and Aggressive Behavior Management certifications
Ensuring that all Life Support/Trauma/Aggressive Behavior Management equipment and manikinsare maintained in proper and safe working condition
Ensuring appropriate inventory of supplies for Life Support, Trauma, and Aggressive Behavior
Develops policies for certification based on best practice and regulatory compliance.
Manages the budget for the Life Support, Trauma, and Aggressive Behavior Management classes.
Supervises the Life Support, Trauma, and Aggressive Behavior Management Instructor positionsincluding recruiting, hiring and annual assessments
Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or other healthcare related field from an accredited program required .
Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in a healthcare related field. Experience providing adult
education preferred. Life Support and Trauma Instructor experience required.
Current RN licensure in the State of Wisconsin required.
Basic and Advanced Life Support Instructor Certification through American Heart Association.
Instructor certification through Emergency Nurses Association required for TNCC, ENPC,
CATN, American College of Surgeons for PHTLS, and Trauma Nurse Society for ATCN highly
