ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Operates a diesel-powered semi-tractor with a trailer up to 18 wheels in a variety of geographic areas and weather conditions on as needed basis. Operate a semi-tractor with a sleeper unit, to facilitate overnight stays to complete a run within federal guidelines.
Follow all federal and state motor carrier safety regulations as specified by the US Department of Transportation and other regulatory agencies of the federal and state governments.
Conduct pre and post trip inspections of the vehicles; report vehicle maintenance problems to the Traffic Manager upon discovery.
Maintain daily trip and fuel logs; submit all logs to Traffic Manager as required.
Unload and load merchandise at the multiple company store locations, with assistance from at least one store person. This is to include unloading new merchandise and loading all merchandise returning to the distribution center or transferring to another store location. Returning merchandise should include cores, defects, transfers, returns, cardboard, stretch film, and any other item requested by the distribution center manager or staff. Record all transfers, as necessary, on the freight bill.
Will work as dock worker when not in a driving capacity.
ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Possess and maintain a valid class ‘"A" CDL driver’s license. Have a safe driving record. Minimum of six months semi tractor and trailer driving experience or equivalent training. Knowledge of all transportation regulations. Ability to accurately maintain daily logs and related record keeping.
