POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES
The Financial Specialist II is a position in the Controller’s Office that ensures the integrity of the university’s budget and financial reporting by maintaining proper budget account structure and account attributes within the university’s established organizational design. This position is responsible for reviewing new operating budget account requests, creating, changing, maintaining and closing accounts, including sponsored project accounts. The Financial Specialist prepares information, annual Treasurer’s Report schedules and other financial reports as requested. This position also assists with the analysis of IRIS interface files for correctness and completeness for IRIS posting. Interface files consist of student checks, student fee waivers, and university service center activity. This position reports to the Assistant Controller for Accounts and Sponsored Projects Accounting and assists the Associate Controller with interface file duties.

The minimum education required for this position is a business-related bachelor’s degree, with preference given to applicants with an accounting degree and a minimum of two years of university/fund accounting experience. Experience with personal computers and related software, particularly with query software is preferred. Candidate must have job skills with SAP or other similar integrated information system and Microsoft Office products. Candidate should have database skills with Monarch or other similar query tools, excellent oral and written communications skills. Knowledge of college and university organizational structure, GASB statements, AICPA Audit guides, and OMB circulars is a plus.
