The Department of Education at Ohio Wesleyan University is accepting applications for an Assistant Professor, tenure track position to begin in August of 2013.

The Department of Education at Ohio Wesleyan University is accepting applications for an Assistant Professor, tenure track position to begin in August of 2013.

The successful candidate will teach six courses or equivalent during a year (two semesters). This position requires a specialization in educational foundations (social, historical, philosophical) with additional expertise in social studies education. Responsibilities will include teaching the introductory foundations course, social studies methods for high school and middle school teacher candidates, and supervising field experience and student teaching. Additional teaching assignments could include courses in the candidate’s area of specialized expertise

Minimum requirements: Earned doctorate by time of appointment preferred, but will consider applicants who have made substantial progress towards completion of a doctorate (ABD); minimum of four years experience teaching at the secondary or middle school level. Experience supervising field experiences and/or student teaching highly desirable. Additional requirements include a demonstrated appreciation for the unique opportunities that teaching in a liberal arts setting can provide to an intellectually engaged faculty member.
