Exponent’s Electrical & Semiconductors Practice includes a team of electrical engineers and computer scientists performing a wide array of investigations ranging from electric power systems to semiconductor devices. Exponent's electrical engineers and computer scientists have experience in the areas of accident investigations, component and printed circuit board failure analysis, semiconductor device failure investigations, electrical and computer equipment failures, electric equipment fire investigations, electric motors and generators, power electronic systems for industrial and electric utility applications, power supplies and batteries, studies of electrical and electronic systems in automotive vehicles, among many others. We also perform "due diligence" investigations for investment decisions, manufacturing plant and technology audits, engineering design process reviews, control system studies, and design reviews of electrical and electronic equipment including embedded software analysis. We operate laboratories for testing moderately heavy electrical equipment, appliances, and light electronic equipment.
The Electrical & Semiconductors Practice is currently hiring for a Senior Managing/Principal Engineer in our Farmington Hills, MI office.
Responsibilities for this position include:
Perform electrical engineering consulting related to ongoing Exponent work
Perform reliability and failure analysis related to electrical/electronic systems and components, especially related to vehicular systems
Design and supervise laboratory testing when necessary
Critically assess test results, methods of analysis and testing protocols
Generate new testing protocols based on new product designs
Maintain a systematic approach to data collection and storage
Initiate and pursue business development opportunities Qualifications for this position include:
M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related field
Technical background in electronics, controls, circuit design, signal and information processing, or software and networking
Understanding and experience with instrumentation and testing
Excellent and creative problem solving ability
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Ability to gather information and convey technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, business, and related industry
Ability to support multiple group projects and market the Electrical & Semiconductors Practice and its consulting services
