If you are a strategic and analytical thinker seeking a materials development role within a unique field, then the Plastics Development Engineer with Ascend Performance Materials may be the opportunity you’ve been looking for! The Plastics Development Engineer will interact within the plastics technology development team and design new materials using academic and industrial knowledge. This is a very hands-on position which requires running plastic processing and testing equipment on a regular basis. Ascend Performance Materials is a rapidly growing global leader in the production of nylon 6,6, and we are seeking a Plastics Development Engineer to join our strong and competent team of industry professionals. This position is located in Pensacola, FL which houses the largest fully integrated production site of nylon 6,6 in the world.

Required Skills Plastics Development Engineer has a variety of job responsibilities, including:
  • Running plastic processing equipment, primarily compounding and injection molding
  • Running and/or coordinating materials testing and characterization
  • Planning, executing, analyzing and reporting on technology products
  • Monitoring competitive and emerging technology
  • Maintaining awareness of ESH/regulatory requirements/changes
  • Providing detailed information to management in a precise and accurate manner
Required Experience The successful Product Development Engineering candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Plastics Engineering. Desirable attributes include:
  • 3+ years industrial experience (less experience and new graduates will be considered) with an in-depth knowledge of plastics processing including injection molding, compounding, and extrusion
  • Experience with thermal and mechanical characterization / testing of plastic materials
  • Experience in designing polyamide 6,6 compounded products
  • Ability to take initiative and focus on results
  • Strong verbal and technical writing skills
  • Must be a strategic and innovative thinker
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office, etc.)
