Full-Time 80 hours per pay period, 8am-5pm
Answers and directs phone calls to, appropriate areas of the clinic, creates an electronic patient file, makes appointments. Greets patients, Coordinates physician schedule, manages wait lists, blocks for surgery and sequential appointments, reschedules appointments, and schedules all ancillary appointments. Registers patients, processes work cues, calls for charts, prepares patient record, processes mail, coordinates committee meetings, coordinates interpreter services, balances cash drawer and failed appointments, and informs patient of credit and insurance policies. Other duties as assigned by Clerical Supervisor or Director of Clinic Operations.
Knowledge of business office procedures. Knowledge of basic bookkeeping practices, CPT and ICD-9 coding. Skill in operating a computer and photocopy machine. Skill in greeting patients and answering telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner. Ability to speak clearly and concisely. Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the general public. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
When students are providing patient care, treatment, and/or services as a part of their training, any/all employees may be asked to supervise the students.
High School graduation or GED is required. Prefer one year work experience, preferably in a medical office setting. Knowledge of medical terminology. Word processing and computer experience desirable.
