Responsible for the company's payroll and employee help desk processes. Prepares, documents, and disburses company-wide payroll checks for the company's union, hourly, and salaried employees. Ensures all appropriate taxes, deductions, and contributions are accurately withheld and W-2s correctly issued. Maintains earnings and deductions records. Files required reports and makes payments to government agencies, insurance carriers, and other organizations/individuals. Recommends and implements changes in methods or procedures to improve the efficiency of the payroll function. Provides a variety of support issue resolution duties to employees in the areas of payroll, benefits, employee relations. Ensures timely and accurate information is provided to employees in a professional manner. Responds to inquiries through phone, mail, email, and/or face-to-face contact with employees.
Skills: People Soft Payroll for North America is a must1-Reviews and processes additions or changes to a computerized payroll system;2-Responds to inquiries from employees and supervisors regarding various employee matters such as payroll, benefits, employee relations, etc.;3-Researches and resolves employee issues and corrects errors as necessary;4-Prepares and creates standard and ad-hoc payroll reports;5-Provides clerical/administrative support to the payroll and employee service function.Typical Training / Experience - HS diploma, GED or relevant work experience; 0-2 years of experience in area of responsibilityDept/Org Scope & Impact - Entry level support role requiring basic skills; can perform some of the basic tasks within the function; some impact at the job or department levelProblem Complexity - Performs simple, routine work; Selects correct processes from clearly prescribed rules, past practices, or instruction; Seeks advice and guidance on non-routine or problem areas from supervisor. Any deviations from the norm are cleared by the supervisor/managerAutonomy - Under close supervision, exercises limited latitude/independent judgment; Work typically involves detailed checks or close review of output by a senior co-worker and/or supervisor/managerKnowledge - Assignments require minimal knowledge beyond the assigned work; Demonstrates correct understanding of routine aspects of work
