Primary function of this department is to manage detailed activities associated with Loss Mitigation and Collections to mitigate risk to Chase and/or investors on loans in default. This position collects past due mortgage accounts and manages specific loans assigned to the Collector.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Organize and prioritize assigned loans based on various factors, including date of most recent contact, promise to pay not kept, and borrowers' financial information.
Generate outbound calls to delinquent borrowers who may be currently in foreclosure or who are considered high-risk.
Collect high delinquency past due mortgage accounts.
Call customers and receive calls from customers to work out payment arrangements.
Negotiate payment arrangements and offer suggestions on how to meet payment obligations.
Review non-performing loans to determine regulatory and investor requirements are met with regard to Loss Mitigation workouts.
Perform a thorough review of a loan's servicing history
Identify all potential loss mitigation workout options and provide accurate information to customer. Send referred loan files to the appropriate department for review and approval.
Quality and protecting the customers' privacy are paramount. Need to follow detailed quality procedures.
Handle moderately difficult skip-trace assignments using various data sources to locate customer contact information.
Knowledge and Experience
Minimum 2 year previous Collections experience required, ownership experience preferred.
Skip tracking experience preferred
Ability to learn rules, regulations, laws and methods of collection, skip tracing and due diligence
Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiating skills
Ability to work well on a team and focus on results; adaptable and flexible
Bilingual in Spanish is highly desirable
Excellent verbal communications skills.
Experience in a fast paced and rapid changing work environment preferred.
Proven ability to show both assertiveness and empathy simultaneously.
Proven ability to multi-task and strong organizational skills is required.
Complete knowledge of relevant federal regulations and/or the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act preferred
High school diploma or GED required
Strong computer keyboard/typing skills are required.
Functional in Word and Excel considered a strong plus
