This position serves as the Montana Office of Tourism’s (MTOT) Interactive Marketing Specialist and is responsible for conceptualizing, developing and administering promotional content for the MTOT site; coordinating interactive marketing programs; researching and recommending emerging technologies and online marketing activities that integrate MTOT’s marketing objectives with concepts that offer a high level of consumer engagement and marketing results.
This position works with the Consumer Marketing Manager, Advertising Agency, and the Senior Interactive Designer serving as a liaison between the programs and is the main point of contact for ensuring that broader marketing activities are supported by the site, as well as taking responsibility for the consumer email newsletter and other online consumer communications.
This position is the primary project manager/coordinator of interactive marketing strategy for the Montana Office of Tourism. The Interactive Marketing Specialist also properly supports the brand image, maintains best in class site functionality and travel planning experience and acts as the technology strategist.
The Interactive Marketing Specialist oversees the brand's social media efforts across a variety of channels, identifying strategies and developing and sharing content to increase awareness, engagement, and inspire travel across Montana. This position is responsible for ensuring that content pieces are created and scheduled to deploy on Visitmt.com to align with brand strategies, consistent with defined business rules, scheduled marketing events and customer browsing preferences.
The position is responsible for developing innovative and interactive Web site features (i.e., technical structures and graphic/content presentations) based on upcoming consumer marketing campaigns; research and evaluate new interactive methods and technologies to determine the relative value and viability for MTOT marketing campaigns. This position, with the cooperation of Consumer Marketing, will analyze interactive marketing campaigns, track key performance indicators to evaluate the ROI and effectiveness of individual Web campaigns. The most complicated aspects of the job involve working in conjunction with MTOT’s design staff and the marketing team to assess statewide marketing objectives, technical and design standards, brand and user needs to develop a site that is appealing, accessible, and useful for users. The position is also responsible for researching, analyzing, and evaluating developmental online marketing methods, emerging technologies, and ambiguous trends and issues affecting Montana’s tourism industry, online marketing, and user characteristics. These assessments, decisions, and conclusions serve as a basis for MTOT’s online marketing efforts.

The position requires knowledge of online marketing, email marketing and social media channels, SEO (search engine optimization) and experienced with website content updates. Experience with Web design is also required.
The position requires experience working with a Web development team and directly with brands of similar size on interactive marketing and brand development. Strong business strategy background. Direct experience with interactive marketing and media strategy, planning and campaign management. Corporate social media experience and blogging.
Follow-through creative thinking, problem-solving, long term vision will be required. The position requires an exceptionally organized self-starter who can work independently, execute quickly and move to the next task.
The position requires skills in technical troubleshooting, written and verbal communications (including public, technical, consumer, and professional communications), managing multiple projects under inflexible deadlines, and promoting a positive image of Montana to customers and associates.
This position requires education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, web-site design and development, information systems, graphic design, marketing, communications, public relations or a related field and 2 – 5 years related experience in graphic design, marketing, web-site design, development and administration; testing and diagnosing web-site problems and providing technical assistance. Other combination of education and experience may be considered.
