May manage the human resources function of a small unit or mid-sized division. Manages staff hiring processes, including developing job descriptions, interviewing and reference checking, handling employment offers, and conducting orientation. Maintains appropriate human resources data and records. Serves as an expert resource on all relevant University human resource policies for a unit or mid-sized division. Counsels employees on benefits and compensation in partnership with UHRM. Consults with supervisors on hiring needs to develop appropriate selection criteria and interviewing protocols. Meets with supervisors to discuss employee compensation. Analyzes data and prepares charts, graphs, and trend lines for management review. Administers the unit's performance management process, including review and improvement of performance management tools. May supervise staff members of an assigned team. May lead a unit s employee/labor relations efforts, including grievances, disciplinary warnings, and employee complaints in consultation with UHRM. Counsels managers and senior staff on HR strategies, departmental organizational issues, and personnel issues. May develop and administer the HR budget for the department, monitor for variances, and manage employment expenses within established guidelines. May advise or counsel supervisors and managers on federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

Unit Job Summary
HR/Academic Affairs and Operations Administrator: Work closely with Executive Administrator to proactively manage the Department of Neurology Human Resources, Academic Affairs and day-to-day operations. This position has the responsibility for managing, administering and advising the department regarding all aspects of human resources, academic affairs and general operations. The administrator will oversee and coordinate the hiring process for staff, the recruitment process for faculty and other academic appointments, and manage the day-to-day general operation activities of the Department, which includes supervision of administrative and support staff.
Bachelor's degree required.
SHRM PHR/SPHR certification or willingness to pursue within 12 months of hire date required.
A minimum of four years of experience in management, human resources, or operations required.
Experience in a higher education environment preferred.
Experience with the University/BSD academic affairs process preferred; experience processing visa petitions and payroll for foreign nationals preferred.
Experience overseeing day-to-day operations preferred.
Must be able to deal with diverse groups of individuals required.
Ability to represent the department and successfully interact with numerous departments, offices and organizations throughout the medical center and University required.
