Provides essential SCADA and automation engineering and technical support to the six major WPX asset teams and the Measurement Services teams.
Engineer, design, implement, configure, and operate the company’s SCADA and oil and gas production automation systems.
The position ensures that SCADA and field automation equipment are configured in accordance with company, industry and regulatory standards and/or contractual requirements while meeting asset personnel needs (the customer).
Position provides SCADA support to Asset personnel to promote field operational efficiencies as well as design and troubleshoot SCADA and automation systems.
This resource will resolve problems in the areas of: SCADA, RTU Configuration, Pad Wireless and SCADA Communications (Radio, Cell Modem and Satellite).
SCADA Automation Engineer will play a key role in the development and compilation of SCADA and automation standards, drawings, technical configuration information and standardized policies/procedures.
SCADA Automation Engineer will lead SCADA Projects and will assist the engineering staff with process improvement studies and projects, quality assurance programs, training of field personnel, RF engineering and safety compliance.
Responsibilities for this position include:
Managing computer and application software infrastructure in support of critical SCADA projects associated with the design and implementation of the complex Automation and RTU systems that are used for SCADA, field automation (wireless and wired instrumentation/field I/O) and business application interfaces.
Project work may include all or part of the following: assessments, analysis, developing a detailed scope of work, preparation of cost estimates, expenditures forecasting, acquisitions, equipment specification review and development, bid evaluations, RF engineering and path design, installation drawings, budgeting and installation plans.
Position will have critical engineering responsibility in the following areas: remote terminal units (RTU), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), electronic flow meters (EFM), automation instrumentation and devices, SCADA configuration, data mapping, tag naming, tag aliasing, facility naming, facility attribute design, graphic screen design and configuration, security, polling schedules, alarming, callout, wireless communications devices, and communications infrastructure.
The position will provide vital engineering support for the integration of production, measurement, automation, compression and plant control data into SCADA or the enterprise historian to facilitate asset team decision making, reporting needs and regulatory requirements.
The SCADA Automation Engineer is responsible for keeping apprised of technological advances and industry standards in areas of work.

BS in Engineering
Six to eight years SCADA, Controls, Instrumentation and related field operations experience
Ability to assist in design, maintain, and support SCADA Systems, RTUs/EFMs/PLCs, Radio Network Equipment, Instrumentation and Data Acquisition Systems and to train others in these areas.
Knowledge of secondary measurement and automation devices; (Ferguson Beauregard, Fisher, ABB Totalflow, Barton Chart Recorders, Instruments, I/O and Long Haul Radio Systems)
