The Webmaster ensures that public Emerson websites are up-to-date, accurate, searchable, and consistent by managing the various workflows across systems through which content and media are added to the site(s); by empowering the Emerson community to contribute directly to the sites through group training and individual consultation; by acting as a point person for customer issues; and by evaluating relevant data to ensure that the sites are as optimized as possible. The Web Manager furthers both the College’s and its departments’ electronic presences by managing the creation and continuity of all official Social Media channels.

Primary Duties, Responsibilites, and Tasks
Manage the day-to-day operations of all Web Services managed websites and web applications including assessing and approving content changes, ensuring standards compliance, and providing customer service for all issues pertaining to those sites and applications.

Develop training modules and materials and conduct training sessions for Web Services managed website and applications.

Manage the implementation and continuity of all official College Social Media instances.

Analyze search and traffic analytics to refine Emerson’s Search Engine Optimization ( SEO ).

Manage user access to all sites and applications.

Assist both the Web Services team and the Emerson Community in the development of new content.

Provide customer service and support for all current and new initiatives.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Education (including hardware, software, and equipment)
Content Management System administration.

Strong knowledge of HTML , CSS , and image editing.

The ability to teach software and web concepts to users of varying degrees of skill and interest.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Bachelor’s degree.

Preferred/Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Education (including hardware, software, and equipment)
Degree in education, media or communication.

Knowledge of Drupal and/or Wordpress.

Knowledge of PHP and JQuery.

Required Prior Work Experience
Two years experience working in web communication, content management, or training.
