Emergency Room Technician : Assists with patient care based on individual patient needs within the scope of practice under direct supervision of the Registered Nurse. They are responsible for clerical and reception interventions, supply and equipment maintenance and promoting a safe and clean environment. The ERT performs approved procedures per policy and any other appropriately delegated responsibilities from the supervising nurse or physician. Receives direction from the emergency room nurse manager, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, nursing supervisors and emergency room physicians. Works cooperatively with registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, Emergency Department technicians, physicians and all ancillary departments of Mayo Clinic Health System – Red Cedar.
This is a temporary position with a tentative end date of September 30, 2013.
High School diploma or equivalent required. Basic EMT and/or Certified Nursing Assistant required. Current American Heart Association BLS certification. Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Hazmat training within 12-18 months of hire. Experience: 1 year as EMT or Certified Nursing Assistant in Acute Care Hospital Preferred. Basic Computer Knowledge Skills, Decision making and Problem solving, Team Building, spoken and written communication skills, and ability to perform duties in a self directed manner. Completion of Following: Rhythm Interpretation Class, Glucose Monitoring Training, Urinary Catheterization Training, and Peripheral IV Catheter placement and Maintenance training.
