Position Description: We are looking for a highly energetic, self-motivated individual to join our laboratory. We are seeking a full-time Professional Research Assistant to work in the Division of Allergy and Clinical Immunology on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO.
Examples of Work Performed
The individual will be comfortable in both clinical and research setting and have prior experience with both. The research is focused delineating the mechanisms of HIV-associated immune dysfunction (T cell) and why the vast majority of individuals with HIV don't control the virus. The clinical duties will involve standard flow cytometry based tests and development, maintenance and updating protocols and consent forms for clinical studies. Develop, maintain and update standard operating procedures for review by CAP and CLIA. Ensure that lab meets quality control standards set by CAP and ASHI. The candidate will be expected to have experience with tissue culture, flow cytometry, molecular biology and other basic cellular immunology research techniques. The candidate must be willing to work with specimens from HIV infected subjects and have good sterile technique. Strict attention to detail in sample testing and reporting of results is a must. Must have ability to work independently, meet responsibilities without continuous supervision and good verbal communication skills.

Required Education/Experience/Skills (Minimum Qualifications): Bachelor's degree in biological science is required. The applicant must have good analytical and problem solving skills as well as a desire to learn new techniques.
Desired Qualifications: A Master's degree and four or more years of experience as a research technician working in an immunology laboratory is preferred. Proficiency in the following areas is highly desirable: flow cytometry, tissue culture, immunology and clinical laboratory practices.
