Some skill in Linux systems administration is desirable, in particular with respect to distributions such as Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, and Debian.
From time-to-time, this position will engage in modest user support and training activities, e.g.: assist with the development of online help facilities, training materials.
Bachelor's degree (4 years). Experience 1-2 years. Experience with and/or strong knowledge and interest in some or all of the following is preferred:
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- DBA and development skills in PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MS Access.
- Web and application server administration skills with Apache, Tomcat and JBoss/Hibernate.
- System administration skills with Linux, Apple OS X and Windows.
- Some programming experience outside of the academic environment is highly desired.
The ability to pickup and learn general concepts and technologies quickly and independently.
