The Biacore Field Applications Scientist within the Label-free Interaction Analysis Modality will provide customers and end-users with product and scientific support as well as assisting in sales support-related activities such as seminars, demonstrations, and sample projects within a designated territory

Essential Responsibilities
Strategy – Implement Company strategy through specific territory plan; work with Account Manager(s) and internal teams as
appropriate to realize corporate vision and mission.
-Sales Revenues/Budgets – Work with Account Manager(s) to meet/exceed territory sales targets. Conduct sales support related activities such as technical seminars, instrument demonstrations, and sample projects (Proof of Principle) within the respective territory.
-Technical Expertise – Demonstrate technical expertise in appropriate product area(s); utilize technical skills to deliver sales and delight customers. Perform experiments in lab for customers and applications projects to develop and maintain lab skills.
-Business/Markets – Drive and initiate development of new business opportunities by keeping abreast of current Life Science industry trends and new technologies
-Communication – Develop and maintain relationships with key customers. Manage customer expectations while providing a high level of customer support during pre- and post-sales support activities. Communicate with customers to help them understand methodologies, applications and how to use the product(s) properly.
-Planning/Scheduling – Plan and schedule pre- and post-sales support according to territory plan and other daily activities and responsibilities.
-Internal/External Training - Conduct both internal and external training courses in basic and advanced instrument and software usage, data interpretation and assay design. Design and develop new course materials and provide feedback to commercial marketing for new course concepts
-Customer Satisfaction – Respond to customer inquiries via telephone and email. Document complaints and work within organization to resolve user issues. Provide high quality customer support in accordance with customer satisfaction measurements.

-Masters degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, Biomedical Engineering or related discipline
-1+ years of experience in sales or support role such as field applications, technical support, marketing, product specialist or product management
-2+ years of life sciences laboratory experience using label-free interaction analysis technologies (SPR), NMR, microcalorimetry, x-ray crystallography, column chromatography or fluorescence
-Candidate must reside in NE and be able to travel within greater Boston metro area
-Must be willing to travel (estimated 40+%)

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Desired Characteristics
PhD Degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or related field
-Teaching or training experience including design and delivery of basic and advanced concepts to technical or non-technical individuals
-Strong time management and organizational skills
-Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with management, sales and service teams and customers
-Proven ability to contribute in a multi-disciplinary team environment
-Working knowledge of computers and their operating systems
-Experience with research collaborations
-Self-starter, energizing, results oriented, and able to multi-task
-Demonstrated problem solving ability and results orientation
-Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, matrixed, and customer focused environment
