This is a mid level position in the Field Operations Division. An employee can qualify for this class through a combination of experience in water/wastewater line maintenance work and the obtaining of particular skills.
Employee will interpret distribution and collection system maps to locate sewer lines, water lines, valves and hydrants, and pump and lift stations. Work may include the operation of the following: wash unit, large dump truck, hydro-vac, tapping machines power rodder, mini-dump truck and/or TV truck. Reads basic schematic drawings. Vacuums and washes mains. Inspects and performs flow/pressure tests on fire hydrants. Troubleshoots and performs quality checks for finished work. Completes work orders and basic forms. Requisitions parts and supplies. Interacts with customers. May exercise some supervisory functions.
In addition, employee is able to perform any task required of a Maintenance Specialist I employee and may be called upon to do as required.
1). High school diploma or GED.
2). Maintain an/or obtain water distribution and wastewater collection certifications as
may be required by regulation.
3). Three (3) years experience as a Maintenance Specialist I or related field.
4). Valid Driver's License with applicable class needed in order to
perform required job duties.
