Alliant Energy is currently recruiting for Billing Representatives to work in our Cedar Rapids, IA office. We are a publicly traded energy holding company with over 4,000 employees. Candidate will have an Associate Degree AND two years of billing experience OR four years of billing experience. Must be able to type a minimum of 35 wpm and be able to pass a computerized numeric ten-key skills test. Candidate must also be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel. The hourly wage for this position is $14.64, no relocation will be offered for this position, and casual dress attire is acceptable. Job Summary: Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of customer billing through the use of the Customer Information System, spreadsheets and other billing systems.

Job Accountabilities:
Performs work on system generated billing exceptions, correctly completes standardized tasks associated with assigned billing parameters including ABEX, EMR¿s, Accounting Notes, CFS, etc.

Responsible for accurately billing residential, general service, steam and lighting customers, due to billing exceptions that fail computer generated audits.

Communicates with external and internal customers on billing issues as directed.

Recreate bills for customers utilizing standardized Excel spreadsheets.

Develops an understanding of rate tariffs for electric, natural gas, and steam billing applications.

Performs work on periodic activity reports (for example: inaccurate metering, billed past final, etc.).

Complete daily and monthly summary billing.

May perform maintenance tasks involving billing databases.

Performs various research functions such as copying, filing, data entry and retrieving microfiche.

Develops ability to work effectively and accurately under pressure.

Responsible for meeting and maintaining quality and quantity production standards.

Works to meet the operational goals of the Customer Billing organization, which are comprised of, but not limited, to safety, accuracy, timeliness, cost effectiveness, and achieving satisfied customers.

Maintains knowledge of the functions, policies, practices, and procedures that affect the operation of the Customer Billing organization.

Job Qualifications:

Education or experience equivalent to a two year degree from an accredited college or university

A minimum of four years technical and/or professional experience to include a minimum of two years of billing experience.

Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e¿mail, internet, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management), Customer Information Systems, and Vista.

Demonstrated ability to keyboard 35 w.p.m. accurately. Proficient in the use of a ten key calculator.

Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of work processes, procedures and information.

Ability to make moderate mathematical calculations through the use of formulas and other exercises.

Good organization skills and ability to work without direction and minimum supervision.

Ability to perform complex tasks/projects with minimal support and supervision.

Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned task or goals.

Knowledge of electric, gas and steam pricing, and operations.

Ability to work in a diverse work environment.
