We are recruiting for an Underwriting Team Lead in the Las Vegas, NV office located at 7455 Arroyo Crossing Parkway, Las Vegas, NV 89113

The Team Lead role requires an individual who has demonstrated the ability to manage a large group of employees and the ability to manage within performance management system expectations. This role requires supervisory experience.

The purpose of the Team Leader position is to provide leadership and daily direction to underwriting teams. Manage all underwriting personnel and functions within assigned underwriting team to achieve or surpass established underwriting business unit goals, including meeting productivity and quality metrics. Responsible for leading assigned team of underwriters to make the right decision on every loan, to ensure consistent underwriting execution of policies, process and procedures, to provide a world-class standard of service to every lender, be a source of “field intelligence”, and to produce ideas for new innovations and improving our underwriting models. Be a source for leading internal and external training, a master of underwriting technology and exhibit knowledge of and experience applying United Guaranty’s underwriting guidelines, policies and procedures. Complete the analysis and finalize decisions on 2nd level review files. Promote and support United Guaranty’s aspiration statement, core values and compliance policies.

Additional responsibilities:
Manage personnel matters for assigned underwriting team members, including but not limited to, recruitment, hiring, salary administration, performance review, training, development, disciplinary action and termination of personnel under direct supervision.

Manage team members’ work flow on a daily basis to insure production and procedures requirements are met and team members meet underwriter’s goals and objectives.

Lead underwriting team members to maintain a commitment to provide excellent customer service through being innovative, responsive and risk solution experts; always leading underwriting team members to consider alternatives and possible counter-offers that would enable a more favorable underwriting decision and advantageous rate.

Review Quality Assurance Results, fraud validation reports and other metrics reports to insure consistent execution by field underwriters. Provide feedback as identified to create process improvements.

Identify, develop and implement processes and procedures that will create efficiencies; and communicate and share such information with underwriting team members.

Review and analyze monthly production reporting for management.

Position Requirements
The successful candidate must demonstrate proven problem solving and decision making skills in their current role.

Experience managing people, workflow and specific job duties.

Residential mortgage underwriting experience and/or quality control due diligence with an emphasis on underwriting related technology applications (DU, LP, Lender specific Automated Underwriting Systems), as well as manual underwriting; and clear understanding of importance in protecting confidential and non-public information.

Knowledge of internet based applications; and resourceful research skills

Strong organizational skills; capable of working independently and multi-tasking

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proficient in presentation and training skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Lotus Notes.

Effective leadership skills; and problem solving skills.

Ability to work in, and effectively adjust to, a rapidly changing environment, with continuous focus on meeting agreed upon service level agreements.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required as this role will interact with employees, lenders and internal managers.

Bachelor's degree is preferred or equivalent experience.

5 + years Experience in residential mortgage underwriting. Previous underwriting management or supervisor experience necessary
Strong organizational skills.
