The Sr. Financial Accountant provides meaningful analysis of all balance sheet accounts to Solvay Finance Directors and the Chief Accountant. The position will be responsible for preparing financial information necessary to support management with analysis and forecasts, prepare and publish monthly financial reports, analyze financial reports and financial forecasts on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis.

Key Responsibilities:
Assures accuracy in the balance sheet and conformity with IFRS accounting rules.

Prepares analysis and reconciliation of business balance sheet.

Provides guidance on accounting events and reporting compliance to the Global Business Unit finance and business teams.

Responsible for the timely and accurate reporting of the business results in the worldwide management reporting and consolidation system.

Ensures that the capital and business corporate expenses are properly recorded.

Process affiliate transactions with other zones.

Assure compliance with internal controls and risk mitigation.

Will perform general ledger updates and participate in required month end closes.

Provides ad hoc analysis and support as required.

Remains up to date on company systems, company reporting guide, company policies and procedures, US GAAP and international accounting standards.


Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA a plus. CPA preferred.

2-3 years of large regional public or equivalent corporate accounting experience in a multi-billion $ public company.

Experience with balance sheet substantive testing.

Strong inter-personal and communication skills, team player.

Strong Microsoft Office skills. Excellent Excel skills required.

Critical thinking and project / time management skills.

Demonstrated ability to work with ERP and financial systems.

Strong knowledge of IFRS.

One + years of experience with SAP software.

Must be able to work autonomously with very limited guidance and demonstrate initiative to anticipate issues of financial nature and propose mitigation / resolution measures to management.
