What You'll Do
As a Senior Product Engineer for John Deere Des Moines Works in Ankeny, IA you will lead design and analysis activities on new and existing design projects in accordance with established guidelines with respect to the performance, reliability, cost and configuration of these systems. In addition, you will:
Work in a team environment with other engineers and representatives of other functional areas locally or globally.
Develop specifications for purchased components and work with suppliers to meet quality and functional requirements.
Plan, coordinate and perform product design, testing and/or analysis work for a complete project of broad scope or for a significant portion or a sub-system of a major and diverse project.
Lead functional/subsystem design requirement reviews with multi-disciplined team and document results.
What It Takes
We need an excellent communicator, who thrives on solving problems and working in a team environment. Ideally, you will have a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering or equivalent work experience in a related field. A Master or advanced degree in Engineering is a plus. In addition, we require:
5 years of experience developing off road machine systems.
Excellent understanding of the application systems and spray principles.
Knowledge of applicable sprayer standards such as ISO, ASAE, etc.
Technical experience relating to design and diagnostics of mechanical/electrical/hydraulic systems.
Work in a geographically distributed collaborative environment.
Ability to lead and present projects to various level of development team.
Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% both domestic and international
A strong candidate will have the following:
Minimum 1000 hours in Pro/E
Ability to model and create Bill of Materials according to design standards.
Knowledge of Product Development process and use of SAP/PDM/cProjects type tools or equivalent.
Experience of CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and understanding of fluid properties.
Understanding of spray system design and validation process a plus.
A strong farm background.
