DESCRIPTION

The DSP will help guide the consumers toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation. This will be done through direct care of the consumers, which will provide the "hands on" experience necessary to recognize subtle changes in the house and fine-tune responses to them. This position includes evenings and weekends.

Woodfords Family Services is seeking a DSP to work at our residential homes from Portland to Biddeford and surrounding areas.

Various hours, including evenings, are available, this is a per diem position.

DUTIES

Assists in developing plans and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum.

Have frequent collateral contact with consultants for training on behavioral plans.

Must be able understand and effectively implement the behavior plan for the consumers that you work with.

Attends all staff meetings as posted on the schedule for the residences in which they work.

Assists the consumers in the development of community awareness through the process of orientation into the community.

Assists the consumers in building personal relationships with people outside the program and family.

Insures proper medical attention through both wellness activities as well as appropriate contact with medical services during periods of illness.

Assists in implementing all medical and medication procedures.

Provides direct care with the consumers.

QUALIFICATIONS

Acceptable candidates must possess a GED or high school diploma.

Candidate must possess a valid State of Maine driver's license.

Candidate must have access to use of a reliable vehicle

Candidate must possess a C.R.M.A. certificate or successfully complete Woodfords' C.R.M.A. classes, on or before their first six months of employment have ended.

Candidate must possess good flexibility and strength
