Create advertising with the highest quality, accuracy and efficiency in mind for all publication properties within Schurz Communications. Troubleshoot and solves problems for a variety of design related issues. Take on special design jobs that are complex.
Essential Functions: • Design ads for various publications at various locations • Create spec ads for reps • Make corrections to ads that have run or are currently running • Collaborate with the creative services manager and participate in various strategic planning meetings • Troubleshoot and solve problems covering all levels of the design process • Create high-end design for special products; special logos as required • Perform other job related duties as assigned • *Mentor and train less experienced graphic artists in creative, technical and procedural matters • *Develop standards and reference materials for use of fellow graphic artists • *Answer telephone calls/handle problems with Advertising sales reps
Experience: • 3-5 years of graphic design experience in field of print or online design.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite software, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat and Microsoft Office • Ability to design ads in a fast paced, deadline oriented environment • Ability to work in a team environment and also independently • Must be able to problem solve and be skilled in critical thinking • Ability to focus while balancing efficiency with creative quality • Skills in reconciling personal preference versus customer preference • Proficient with general typographic, layout and full color printing skills • Understanding of color theory and general design principles • Ability to multi-task • Typing skills
Education: • Bachelor’s degree or Associates degree
Working Conditions: • Duties are performed in open office setting • Constant repetitive motions, eye/hand coordination and sitting for long periods of time • Occasional reaching, listening, talking
