MWG is recruiting for a talented Database Administrator. This role will model, develop and oversee the administration of SQL Server databases by internal and external staff, as well as third party providers.

Assist principals in the oversight of monitoring and maintaining all Production Databases as well as QA and Development environments.
Oversee the deployment of new SQL database environments with a strong emphasis on security, reliability and scalability.
Optimize stored procedures, UDFs, index clustering, table design, job design and job scheduling to optimize database performance.
Install new DBMS software, application software, and other software related to DBMS administration. Prepare and execute acceptance criteria, reviewing results before migrating to the production environment.
Analyze performance issues under pressure, while sharing analysis approaches and methods with other DBAs.
Develop, support and promote standards for the secure and efficient use of sensitive information.
Complete resource estimates; prepare and execute project plans and timelines. Communicate progress, obstacles and plans effectively to stakeholders.
Lead periodic testing of backup/restore procedures and disaster recovery plans.
Manage security at all levels of SQL Server.
Work as a team member with product management, development, support, documentation, training and sales departments. Provide design input and approval where appropriate, during project estimation, design, development, QA and deployment phases.
Help lead the migration between SQL versions as appropriate.
Work with domestic and offshore development and operations staff to understand their database needs. Develop solutions where needed and mentor when appropriate.
Research and implement new methods and technologies to enhance performance, heighten security, ensure uptime, and automate common/redundant administrative duties.
Complete other work requirements or tasks that are requested by management when necessary to meet the goals and objectives of the department or company.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline or equivalent combined education and experience.
3+ years database administration experience in large scale, high volume environments with increasing level of responsibility.
Hands-on SQL Server 2000/2005/2008 administration, database tuning and troubleshooting experience; knowledge of all standard SQL Server tools.
Strong understanding of database structures, principles, and best practices.
Strong knowledge and experience creating and optimizing schemas, triggers, stored procedures, and user defined functions.
Exceptionally strong SQL, T-SQL, and DTS/SSIS package skills.
SQL Server 2008 experience required; SQL 2000 experience desirable.
Knowledge of search engines (Solr) and NoSQL database systems (Hadoop, RavenDB) highly desirable
A self starter with ability to work in a fast paced environment bringing new ideas and technologies into the business.
An understanding of High Availability, Disaster Recovery, Performance Tuning, Security and Replication.
Strong knowledge of Windows Server 2003/2008; good Active Directory knowledge.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability and flexibility to perform a number of engineering tasks at one time unsupervised.
Evidence of leadership competencies including team building, self confidence, results orientation and interpersonal skills.
Ability to be on call 24/7/365 to sustain availability and SLA.
Certifications (MCDBA, MCITP, MSC Master) encouraged.
Attention to detail is critical.
