Supervise the guided play and learning activities of children enrolled in the college Child Development Center day care program.
Plan and implement the daily activities to meet the developmental needs of the children ages 2-5. Provide for the daily ordered arrangements, appearance, décor and learning environment of the children’s classrooms.
Provide written and oral input into the orientation, participation and evaluation of students from the Early Childhood Education program. Serve as a role model for the Early Childhood Education students, provide assistance to the students as they implement skills learned in the classroom, assist students with problem solving and give work direction to individual students.
Plan and implement methods of establishing a positive liaison with parents of the children. Provide oral and written input into the evaluation procedures needed to assess the developmental levels of the children. Conduct parent conferences on children’s school adjustment, classroom behavior and developmental needs.
Help to establish policies, procedures, and standards to assure child care program will meet licensing and accreditation. Complete first aid and mandatory reporting training as required, along with other training required by state licensing standard or by NAEYC accreditation.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related
60 semester credits in any field including 25 credits in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related and completion of Associate’s Degree within six months of hire
27 semester credits in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related and one year of experience working directly with young children.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with students, children, and staff. Ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to plan, organize and manage time. Ability to interact effectively, courteously and impartially with diverse populations. Knowledge of current software applications. Ability to meet state licensing requirements, including: DCI check, Child Abuse Registry check, medical exam with update every three years, etc.
