Job Description
The position will receive direction and assignments from the Lead Analyst Programmer, Unit Manager and/or Principle Investigators. Administratively the position will report to the Unit Manager of the Clinical Informatics Systems Unit within the Division of Research and Education Systems. The employee may take additional technical direction from Project Managers, or Technical Specialists on the team.

This position will aid a variety of software development efforts for the vocabulary and standards initiatives in support the Clinical Informatics research portfolio. Primary responsibilities include: design, development, and implementation of software solutions including stand alone as well as integrated components. Investigation of technologies for data standards and open source functionality will be necessary.

This is a full-time position with normal business hours of Monday through Friday.

Basic Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree and training/experience in software development; or an Associates degree and 2 years professional software development experience; or 8 years of professional software development experience. Experience in software development using an object-oriented language with a strong preference for Java is required. Experience with XML is required. Experience using a commercial database management system and SQL is required.

Other Qualifications:
The preferred candidate will be aided by their work in application software development with prior experiences around web user interfaces (UI). In addition to UI experience, the preferred candidate should be able to demonstrate prior experience in AJAX development using tools such as Google Window Toolkit (GWT) or similar toolkits; experience with HTML5 and CSS3 is preferred. The preferred candidate must be able to work well in a team environment as well as poses the skills to work independently. The candidate must be highly motivated and willing to learn and implement leading edge technologies. The candidate must pose excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical design skills, along with a strong oral, written communications and interpersonal skills. In addition to the required skills experience, familiarity in the following environments and technologies is preferred:

Compensation Detail: Salaried - Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. *The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $2476.80, based on a full-time position
