Job Description
Reporting to the Vice President, Global Sales & Marketing, the Product Manager - Controlled Substances will have responsibility for independently managing innovator customer accounts and relationships, and for liaising and coordinating with the generic commercial team in the management of the generic business. The job holder will be responsible for formulating and delivering upon the business plan for the controlled substances market, integrating sales and marketing initiatives with operational plans and capabilities of the manufacturing site. This position may be based out of our manufacturing site in Iowa or our offices in New Jersey.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Development and execution the Controlled Substances business strategy.
Deliver aggressive revenue and profit growth in constrolled substances, building upon the established business platform and positions already established
Commercial responsibility for performance of controlled substances business unit
Act as liaison with and coordinate innovator and generic commercial teams selling and marketing controlled substances.
Provide key relationship management through involvement in new business acquisition opportunities and continued development of existing clients.
Responsibility for new product selection and development, particularly the evaluation and determination of Cambrex entry into the opiate market segment
Assess opportunities to access downstream value beyond sale of controlled substances. Identify and implement agreed strategy.
Act as liaison with project management, technical and operational functions.
Job Qualifications
Degree in life science discipline, preferably chemistry or chemical engineering
8 or more years pharmaceutical industry experience including substantial sales/commercial experience selling to pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Experience in both generic and innovator sectors would be highly beneficial
Good understanding of the drug substance manufacturing industry, in particular, drivers of processes for and influences over drug substance sourcing/outsourcing
Demonstrated history of success in account management and strong relationships with key decision makers within the generic and innovator pharmaceutical companies in the US
An established reputation within the pharmaceutical industry and familiarity with the US controlled substance market for drug substance/drug product is highly desired
Familiarity with the quota system governing controlled substances in the US
Highly developed interpersonal, communication and selling skills
Proven ability to lead teams
Demonstrated ability to drive actions and strategies to completion
Experience with retaining and aggressively growing existing customer relationships
