Health Information Coordinator

As a Health Information Coordinator you will be responsible for assisting with processing medical records. Reporting to the Director of Health Information Management on problems and discrepancies in the medical record; assisting with the mail and phone messages and performing general clerical functions.

Additional responsibilities of the Health Information Coordinator include:
• Assisting with data entry as needed.
• Assisting in routing infection control information from physician's orders to the infection control nurse.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Health Information Coordinator
To qualify for the Health Information Coordinator, you must have effective communication skills and be able to work with individuals of all ages.

Additional requirements of the Health Information Coordinator include:
• Knowledge of standard health information management practices.
• Completion of health information management courses is beneficial.
• Familiarity with office machines.
• Previous experience working in a health information management/medical records department.
• Typing, data entry, filing, telephone, computer, and adding machine skills.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Assist with processing medical records, including opening the electronic medical record and entering physician orders. Reports to Director of Health Information Management on problems and discrepancies in the medical record; assists with mail and phone messages and performs general clerical functions. Assist with data entry as needed. Coordinator is responsible for tracking primary physician appointments and transportation to appointments; completes special projects as assigned. Must have flexibility of hours for admissions, will require to be on-call every other weekend nad every other holiday.

Minimum requirements:
Basic ability to communicate and comprehend
Knowledge of standard health information management practices
Must be able to speak, read, and write in English and be able to articulate clearly and audibly
Previous experience working in health information management/medical records department
Typing, data entry, filing, telephone skills, computer skills are a must; familiar with other office machines.
